Ok first of all, it's hot. It's freaking hot. It's so hot I wish every place I go is air conditioned.
DAY 1 - Maundy Thursday
So it started with one sunny morning. It was Maundy Thursday and I woke up around 10am. I looked outside the window and I saw this.
|
It's going to be a very hot day they said. |
My room is located in a fairly cool place..well at least in the morning. So I thought,
"Hmmm it seems like a nice day. It's not that hot. What shall I do today?" I went down and was greeted with a nice breakfast.
"Oooh it's really going to be a good day. I just know it." I said to myself. Then mom asked me to start preparing lunch. I was so in a good mood I immediately said "Ok." without any sign of protest. I usually hate being asked to do chores.. especially in the morning when I'm still in my sleepy state.
So this happened.

Carrots and beans! |
|
Behold! Chicken heart!! |
|
Tadaaa~! Sotanghon with carrots, beans and chicken parts! Omnomnom! |
I can cook. Well at least the food I cook is
edible. My family is a living proof..they're still breathing. Haha! anyway I had fun cooking even though I accidentally inhaled some pepper powder which caused me to sneeze a hundred times.
Fasting. No meat, poultry or anything luxurious to eat. Only fish and veggies.
Unfortunately, it was April 5 and it was mom's 50th birthday. We weren't able to celebrate because it was
Huwebes Santo.
DAY 2 - Good Friday
We went on a road trip to Alaminos City! It was a ton of fun. Ok, Alaminos City is an hour drive from Dagupan City and mom decided to do her shopping there, mainly because of the awesome seafood which were sold half the price.
We were wrong. Business is business. Economics. Law of supply and demand. The greater the demand and the supply remains unchanged, the higher the price of the good will be. Sooo we had no choice but to get them. It felt like a robbery. Lol.
Another thing that we witnessed that day was the
Penitensya or the public penance. A tradition practiced only here in the Philippines for hundreds of years. People
inflict wounds on themselves, and some even go as far as actually being
crucified. It's a crazy tradition. Anyway, we saw several men doing it on the streets of Alaminos and I even got to take pics eventho it was extremely hot.
|
Huuuuu.. >___< |
Just look how hot it was. They would have to stay on the cross until 3pm. Omg I admire those men, but I still think it's crazy. Even the church now discourages this practice, but I guess old habits are hard to break.
DAY 3 - Black Saturday
Birthday celebration!!! Finally, we could celebrate mom's birthday! So we woke up early to prepare for the partay. I had to get the cake and I'm proud that I chose an awesome cake. It didn't look that appealing with all the icing on top, but once you see the inside of the cake..OMG. Hahaha it was 3-in-1. Mocha, chocolate and vanilla flavor in one cake. Am I awesome or what? Lol but honestly, I had no choice but to get that certain cake 'coz it was the last biggest cake. Just got lucky I guess.
|
Mom, you're old. Deal with it. |
Hahaha I was responsible for the birthday message too. I know how mom loves it when we remind her of her age. She would tell us "You don't have to rub it in you know.."She has some issues with aging. I don't mind getting old. Well.. I'm only 21 and age doesn't really bug me...yet. Lol. I know someday I'll get age conscious too just like my mom.
It was an awesome partay. I love you mom! You're not getting any younger! Ha!
DAY 4 - Easter Sunday
Easter Sunday. Time to go to church and as usual we were off to Manaoag. If it wasn't for the Holy week we wouldn't have gone 'coz it was hooooot. It was too hot to be anywhere outside.
|
Hot. Just hot. |
|
Just look at those people! Eeeek! |
We took Nanay along with us and it was a bad idea because it was hot and crowded. Nanay had to squeeze in with all other people to get inside the church. We managed to get her inside the church safely but we took her out even before the mass ended to avoid human traffic.
After the mass, we went to see The Hunger Games. Oh yeah! The Hunger Games was bomb.com! I can't wait to read all the books!
Soooo.. That's how I spent my Holy Week. Tomorrow, we're leaving for Baguio. Eeeh.. Back to normal again. School and work. Boo!
I want an Easter Bunny!
